Google's Project Guideline team has built an experimental technology that leverages on-device machine learning to help blind or low-vision people independently walk and run using a mobile phone, headphones, and a guideline painted on the ground. The team is working with Thomas Panek, avid runner and CEO of Guiding Eyes for the Blind, and helping him run independently for exercise (a desire he expressed during a 2019 Google hackathon).
