Details
The talk describes the implementation of the voxel based terrain engine in Roblox including details about geometry generation, shading and rendering. Both articles were written before some of the advancements in the technology, for example today our in-memory storage mechanism is optimized more aggressively to allow dropping certain mip levels and reusing some data between chunks, and our physics implementation supports lazy construction of broadphase data to accelerate loading, as well as doing a lot of computations in parallel across available cores.
